Old Fortress Moat

The moat that separates Corfu's Old Fortress from Corfu Town was dug in the mid-15th century.  The Venetians expanded the original fort into the imposing citadel that exists today.

The moat is currently used as a moorage for boats.

Visitors must cross a bridge over the moat to gain access to the Old Fortress and other attractions.
